Jesus & Galiläa, wo alles began

Day 01 – Welcome to the Holy Land
Today arrive Ben Gurion Airport, meet your guide and transfer to the Sea of Galilee for dinner and overnight.

 

Day 02 – Sea of Galilee
Start the day with a stunning view of the Sea of Galilee from Mt. Arbel, and the surrounding area where Jesus ministered. From here you can see in a clear day Mt Hermon and Mt Tabor. Next is Nazareth, where Jesus spent his childhood and nearby Cana, site of His first miracle.

After a view of the Jeszreel Valley from Mt of Precipice,  where Jesus was rejected by those in the synagogue after He taughtthem, explore the Nazareth Village, a living presentation of the life,times, and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth. Visit Sepphoris, the cosmopolitanRoman capital of Galilee until Herod Antipas built Tiberias and seat of the Sanhedrin in the second century A.D.

 

Day 03 – The Golan Heights
Today explore Hazor, one of the oldest archaeologicalsites in Israel and where Joshua fought against Jabin. Hazor is also the inspirationfor The Source, James Michener’s history of the region. In Tel Dansee themud brick arch constructed in Canaanites times, where The House of David fragment-from the First Temple Period-wasdiscovered. Your next stop is Caesarea Philippi, where Jesus traveled with Hisdisciples and where nearby Peter made his great confession to Jesus,“Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God”. Your last stop today is Mt Hermon, probably the site of the Transfiguration, and return to the Sea of Galilee for dinner and overnight.

 

Day 04 – Around the Lake
Enjoy the sunrisein Capernaum, the fishermen town and center of His Ministry, where you can see the synagogue where Jesus preached. Next visit the Mt of Beatitudes, the site of the Sermon on the Mount.

Not far away is Bethsaida,where Jesus chose five of his disciples, and Korazim, the town cursed by Jesus because He did mightyworks there and they “repented not”. On the East shore of the Lake is Kursi, where Jesus cast out evil spirits from a demon-possessedman and cast them into a group of swine which ran violentlydown a steep hill and drowned in the sea.

 

Day 05 – the Jezreel Valley
Today drive to Megiddo, the site of Solomon Stables, and view the impressive water system. Pass by Mt Gilboa, where Saul fought and died.Hisdeath made David lament and pray that no dew would fall on themountain. Next visit Gideon’s Spring where Gideon chose his army of300 by observing how they drank from the springs. End the day at Yardenit, the baptismal site, wherethe Jordan River flows to the Dead Sea. In the peace of the natural surroundings participate in an optional baptismal ceremony.

 

Day 06 – The Coastal Plains
Depart Tiberias and drive to Caesarea Maritima, the site of the conversion of the first gentile, the centurion. Then to ancient Jaffa, where you see the house of Simon the Tanner and from where Jonah sailed. Driving by the Ellah Valley pass by Emmaus, where Jesus met two of his disciples that didn’t recognize him after his resurrection, and by the Judean Hills arrive Jerusalem, the Holy City.

 

Day 07 – Jerusalem
Start the day atopthe Mount of Olives as Jesus did and enjoy an amazing view of the “Golden City” ofJerusalem, from Jesus ascended into heaven forty days after His resurrection. Continue to Mt Zion and see the site of King David’s Tomb, and the UpperRoom, revered as the site of the Last Supper. In the afternoon visit Bethlehem, where you visit the cave where Jesus was bornand the church constructed on the site.Nearby, view the Shepherds’ Field where the Good News was first heard, before returning to Jerusalem.

 

Day 08 – The Old City
Today enter the Old City and see the Wailing Wall, last remnant of the Second Temple of Jerusalem. In the Davidson Center see the excavations and the Hulda Gates. Continue to the Pools of Bethesda, site of Jesus’ Miracle, and the AntoniaFortress where Jesus was brought beforePontius Pilate. Walk the Way of the Cross, the Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, and end the day at the Garden Tomb, probably the garden of Joseph of Arimathea, for communion.

 

Day 09 – Departure
Today transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
