Going green

For a few years now we've been noticing that our guests are more and more interested in leaving a trace during their stay and help contribute with the local community. Unfortunately Israel was not blessed with natural forests, today’s many forests are hand-planted since its Declaration of Independence in 1948 and being one of only two countries in the world that entered the 21st century with a net gain in its number of trees. The creation of forests is the creation of "green lungs", providing recreation and respite areas for both locals and visitors.

So we found a great way to contribute to the country’s forestation efforts and give the opportunity to our guests to be involved in a sustainable project. Each passenger actively plants a tree and receives a certificate for his/her cooperation. From our experience the special ceremony becomes an unexpected highlight of the trip.

And all this takes place in the Neot Kedumim Biblical Reserve. Neot Kedumim (literally "Ancient Beauty") is a non-profit organization operating a 620 acres reserve in central Israel and is the only Biblical Reserve in the world, where the picturesque biblical landscape returns to life, with plants and trees that recreate the habitat of hundreds of wild animals, water and agricultural installations as they were over 2000 years ago, focusing in today's issues: conservative use of water, renewable sources of energy and respect for nature.

Here our staff in our own forest!
